Can You Get Refunds From Your Apple Card?

According to Apple, charges can be disputed on your Apple Card. Much like with financial institutions like your local bank or PayPal, disputes consist of a handler gathering all the information out there involving the case and then making a final decision on whether the money will go back to the customer’s account. According to Apple, it can take up to two billing cycles to resolve a dispute — that’s roughly two months. So if you start a dispute in March, it might take some time in May to hear back from Apple.

How To File A Dispute With Your Apple Card

If you know Apple, the company has been notorious for having very long hold times for customers. However, there’s a separate customer service department exclusive to Apple Card holders. Here’s how to get in touch:

  1. Open the Wallet app on your iPhone, or the Settings app, followed by “Wallet & Apple Pay” on your iPad.
  2. Tap on “Apple Card”.
  3. Find “Latest Transactions” and tap on the transaction you want to act on.
  4. Tap on the transaction once more.
  5. Tap on “Report An Issue”.
  6. Choose the option that best relates to your transaction.
  7. Tap on “Continue”.
  8. Tap on “Continue to Chat”.
  9. Write a message detailing your order, and then tap on “Send”.

After a moment, you’ll either be required to enter further details or you’ll be forwarded to a human representative.

Apple Card Disputes: What To Expect

Apple will provide regular updates on your dispute through email. Often it is the case that Apple will require more information from you in regards to what happened, so they can make a more informed decision. You might also get a temporary credit and additional interest charges. The merchant will also need to provide information, and they have up to 45 days to respond to the dispute.

At the end of the investigation, Apple can either give you a favorable or unfavorable decision. If favorable, the temporary credit becomes permanent which also includes interest charges. If unfavorable, the temporary credit goes back to the merchant, and you will need to pay the transaction as it stands.

Can I Get A Refund On App Store Purchases?

If you purchase an app, subscription, video, or music track on the App Store, Apple TV, or Apple Music, you won’t need to contact Apple Card or even Apple customer support. You can get a refund by just being guided through the Apple refund page.

Here’s how this process works:

  1. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in.
  2. Click on “I’d like to”, followed by “Request a refund”.
  3. Enter the reason you want a refund.
  4. In the list of purchases, choose the one you want a refund for.
  5. Click on “Submit”.

It should take 1 to 2 business days for your money to return to your credit card.

Subscriptions can also be canceled, but in most cases, you might not get your money back if the subscription has been ongoing for a while.

Apple Card Customer Service Hours

It’s important to note that customer service for Apple Card is currently handled by Goldman Sachs. With this in mind, the customer service hours may differ from Apple’s customer service hours.

Goldman Sachs customer service is available Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:30 PM EST. Opening a dispute within these business hours will ensure the dispute will begin sooner rather than later.

How To Protect Apple Card From Fraudulent Charges

Apple has a primary way to secure your information from unauthorized charges: with Advanced Fraud Protection. This protection ensures that you’re the only person that makes purchases using your card online. What happens is that when you pay for something online, Apple will provide you with a temporary security code that will be provided to you either in the Wallet app or in Safari — automatically filled in to save you time.
